Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) is seeking a qualified contractor for repairs to our Deerhaven Generation Station Unit 1 Stack. Contractor must be able to fill and seal the hair line cracks on the exterior surface. repair the interior upper approximately 60' of the gunite refractory liner and repair the brick lining as needed and replace missing sections of the liner as needed and repair/replace the mortar associated with the brick lining in the top 60' and the bottom 5'. Question Submission Deadline:March 15, 2024, 2:00 pm Outer Shell Repair up to 20 square feet of broken or loose outer shell. Disintegrated concrete shall be cut away then scored and coated with a bonding fluid then new mortar applied. Cavities that exceed 1-1/2" in depth and 8" in diameter shall be raked out to a depth where solid concrete is encountered, coated with an approved bonding fluid and mortar applied. Cracks less than 1/8" in width will be sealed with a protective coating. NOTE: Mortar should be three parts clean sand, one part Portland cement, and an approved non-shrink additive. Washdown Wash down each platform will be power washed to remove bird droppings and atmospheric staining. A mild detergent will be applied followed by a high-pressure rinse of water. Acid-Proof Lining Replacement Repair the upper 100' of the liner with a reinforced acid-proof gunite liner. Remove debris from chimney liner interior. Remove the existing gunite liner, remove debris from the chimney and disposed of off-site. Apply a nominal 2" thick application of potassium silicate cement material throughout the entire height of the chimney. The interior surface of the liner will be checked to determine if acidity is present. An alkaline solution will be applied to neutralize the surface if required. T-shaped refractory anchor devices will be attached to the internal surface on 9" horizontal by 9" vertical centers to facilitate retention of the cement product to the internal surface. Anchors will be installed on a staggered pattern with random tine orientation to deter thermal crack projection in the newly installed lining. Apply high temperature asphaltic membrane of approximately 60mils. Preferably Sauereisen No. 89 High-Temperature asphaltic membrane as manufactured by Sauereisen. Then install an application of the high-temperature membrane. Material will be mixed with liquid binder in the proportion specified by the cement manufacturer. Experienced nozzlemen and operators will conduct the guniting operation. The nozzle will be held in such a position that, as nearly as possible, the jet of material is applied at right angles to the surfaces being covered. The lining will be applied in a continuous operation to avoid laminations. The material will be applied to a natural gun finish. Rebound material will not be reused and will be removed and disposed of offsite. When the project is completed all scaffolding and rigging equipment will be removed from the chimney interior, the enlarged cleanout opening will be sealed with cement blocks, and the area will be left in raked-clean condition. Deerhaven Unit 1 Stack Repair have to be complete by 6/22/2024. End of the DH1 outage is 6/24/2024.
