Pre-qualified civil contractors may be invited to tender for construction of Fraser Highway One Way Project from 204 Street to 206 Street; Road Works and Utilities and related works for the City of Langley. Fraser Highway between 204 Street and 206 Street is a vibrant commercial area with a unique environment in the City centre. The intent of the project is to revitalize the area by constructing an urban streetscape to provide a welcoming and positive area for businesses and residents. A significant challenge of this project is to undertake all the undergrounding of new utilities and streetscape improvements while maintaining access to the businesses. The selected contractor would need to maintain access to all businesses during the construction of the undergrounding of new utilities and streetscape improvements. In addition to the potential impacts on the businesses, the replacement of the existing utilities is challenged by a concrete slab underneath the pavement in the center of the roadway and buildings in close proximity to roadway. The concrete slab underneath the roadway requires it to be entirely removed. Due to the sensitive nature of the project, the City wishes to work with Short-Listed Respondents to develop the most effective construction schedule and staging plan. The proposed works consists of: Renewed sidewalk and boulevard; Road upgrades including new curb and gutter, granular materials, and asphalt paving with diagonal and parallel parking; Landscaping including street trees, shrubs, and site furnishings; Traffic signal modifications; Streetlight replacement; Removal and disposal of concrete slab under the existing pavement; Approximately 450 meters of BC Hydro duct installation; Approximately 360 meters of storm sewer upgrades; Approximately 500 meters of sanitary sewer upgrades; and Approximately 585 meters of watermain upgrades
