Outline of Work: Project 1: Provide materials and labor for reconstructing five entrances at the King Middle School, in Portland, Maine. Work includes removal and disposal of existing pavement; removal of grass areas and loam; regrading base material; installation of concrete foundations, backfill for foundations; stairs and ramps; installation of steel railings; installation of bituminous and concrete paving; and pavement striping as outlined on the approved plans and specifications. Project 2: Provide materials and labor for reconstructing two entrances at the Lyman Moore Middle School, in Portland, Maine. Work includes removal and disposal of existing concrete platform, ramp and steps; removal of grass areas and loam; regrading base material; installation of concrete foundations, stairs and ramps; backfill for foundations; installation of steel railings; installation of bituminous and concrete paving; and pavement striping as outlined on the approved plans and specifications. BASE BID: New bituminous paved ramp on regraded pathway. ALTERNATE: New cast-in-place concrete ramp with frost wall, proof footing and pipe railing Project 3: Provide materials and labor for reconstructing the entrance at the Portland High School, in Portland, Maine. Work includes demolition and disposal of existing pavement, concrete wall and chain link fence; resetting granite curb; regrading base material; installation of concrete paving as outlined on the approved plans and specifications. Project 4: Provide materials and labor for reconstructing the entrances at the Deering High School, in Portland, Maine. Work includes demolition and disposal of existing pavers and granite; regrading base material; resetting pavers; installation of concrete ramp as outlined on the approved plans and specifications. MANDATORY PRE-BID CONFERENCE - There is no pre-bid meeting. All questions shall be directed in writing ONLY to the Purchasing Office at the above City Hall address and be received by Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 12:00 PM (FAX 207-874- 8652, or email slchapin@portlandmaine.gov). Responses from the City that substantially alter this bid will be issued in the form of a written addendum to all bid holders registered in the Purchasing Office. Oral explanations or interpretations given before the award of the contract will not be binding. Bids from vendors not registered with the Purchasing Office may be rejected; receipt of this document directly from the City of Portland indicates registration. Should a vendor receive this invitation from a source other than the City, please contact purchasing@portlandmaine.gov or call 207-874-8654 to ensure that your firm is listed as a vendor for this project. This bid will be awarded to the responsible bidder that submits the lowest base bid amount.
