Renovation of an educational facility in Oshawa, Ontario. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
The Durham College of Applied Arts and Technology ("the Institution"), in collaboration with the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, is seeking an organization to supply, install, and maintain new athletics strength (resistance) equipment to replace the aging equipment currently being used in the fitness facility (the Flex) General Equipment Specifications Range of Motion - These units should feature either hydraulically assisted pre-stretch foot levers or pull-pin adjustments that enable users to choose desired range of motion where applicable. Rubber Bumpers - Heavy-duty rubber bumpers are used in multiple contact areas to reduce noise and stress to framework and components. Bumpers vary from 1" to 3" in thickness, depending upon application. Rubber Footplates - Rugged anti-skid rubber footplates provide users with superior grip on all lower body units and as footrests in several other applications. Premium grade compound significantly outlasts grip tape and like materials while offering better adhesion than diamond plating. Safety Labelling - All units feature appropriate preventative safety labelling in clear text accompanied with images where necessary to further clarify safe use of units. QR codes on strength equipment for instructional video links favorable. Structural Frame - MIG welded preferably 7, 9 or 11-gauge bent steel tubing (where applicable) with minimum number of bolted joints required for installation. Raised frame design facilitates cleaning in and around units, and protective foot covers (prevents rust stains & scratching) are standard so that no metal surface meets flooring. Steel round components such as handlebars, pull pins, and other high stress areas are constructed of cold-rolled steel. Upholstery - Heavy, commercial grade upholstery with protective finish. Upholstery is double stitched to avoid folding upholstery to finish corners (reduces life of pad) and for aesthetic appeal. Main Selectorized Equipment Pneumatic seat adjustments 1-inch solid steel guide rods Weight plates to have nylon bushing for smooth operation Individual custom strength cams 5 lb. add-on weights Bi-lateral movement with converging access Upholstered bench pads will be protected by plastic upholstery guards All foot plates for any pressing movement should be coated with durable rubber footings Elevated frame for easy floor cleaning Rubber frame feet protectors preventing rust Leg Press: Oversized, linear, sealed ball bearings run on case-hardened shafts. Pivot points and joints feature motor-grade sealed ball bearings, or sleeve bearings, utilizing either oil-impregnated bronze bushings or pre-lubricated nylon bushings. Bolts are grade 5 or above in all applications Leg Extension/Leg Curl: should include self-adjusted tibia pad Leg Extension/Leg Curl: should include range of motion limiting device Novice Selectorized Circuit Individual custom strength cams Optional 1-5 lb. add on weights preferred Easy weight selection with no removable pieces Enclosed weight stack no more than 60 inches high preferred Consistent weight stack height preferred (please specify on RFP) Plate-Loaded All pieces will have weight storage racks and racks will have Olympic bar storage Olympic benches will include safety catch pivoting feature and spotter platforms where available All benches will have rubber protective footings Upholstered bench pads will be protected by upholstery guards Elevated frame for easy floor cleaning Leg Press: Oversized, linear, sealed ball bearings run on case-hardened shafts. Pivot points and joints feature motor-grade sealed ball bearings, or sleeve bearings, utilizing either oil-impregnated bronze bushings or pre-lubricated nylon bushings. Bolts are grade 5 or above in all applications Adjustable Benches: No pop pins preferred or if proposing a combination, larger ratio of non-pop pins requested Easy adjustment seat catch All benches will have rubber protective footings Adjustable benches with wheels preferred 0-85-degree adjustable benches Dumbbells and Barbells: High durability hard shore urethane coating Hardened chrome alloy steel handle A one-piece solid, round (versus hexagon) dumbbell Angled Barbells Branded with the Flex Delivery and installation of the equipment will take place during the week of July 8, 2024. If this timeframe is not available due to circumstances out of the control of the Institution or the Proponent, the equipment can be delivered and installed the week of July 29, 2024.
