A timeline for the award has not yet been established.** Summary The purpose of this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) is to contract with a single, qualified firm to provide Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) services for the design support, possible relocation, and construction of a new Kinsey Elementary School, currently located at 1601 S Lone Tree; Flagstaff, AZ 86004. Background VISION STATEMENT After assessment of the Flagstaff Unified School District's facilities and interviews with staff, improvements were prioritized and recommended to the Governing Board by a Bond Steering Committee that was comprised of staff, parent, and community stakeholders. The replacement, and possible relocation, of Kinsey Inquiry and Discovery School was prioritized due to the extensive repair and replacement of aged systems required of the school. While the current facility is well-maintained, the school does not meet current building code and ADA compliance requirements, or optimally support the needs of next generation learning environments and the schools' magnet program. A bond program, approved by district voters in November 2022, will primarily fund the replacement of this elementary school. Lura Kinsey Elementary, constructed in 1957 and located in 1601 S. Lone Tree Road, serves approximately 375 students in grades PK-5 as an inquiry and discovery magnet elementary school. Kinsey features a place-based education model to provide learning experiences inspired by the cultures and community of Northern Arizona, and develops the core values of integrity, collaboration, engagement, and wonder in its students. Relocation of Kinsey Elementary may be considered due to site drainage issues; traffic and safety concerns due to the planned expansion of South Lone Tree Road, and an opportunity to strategically locate the school within its existing school boundary and in the Flagstaff community.
