The project consists of renovation of 59 apartment units, generally including: replacement of HVAC unit, light fixtures, smoke/CO2 alarms, door hardware, vinyl floor tile, kitchen countertops and sinks and security screen doors; interior repainting, bathroom renovation (new fixtures, solid surface tub surround, ceramic tile floor, toilet accessories), and new siding and new painting at selected front porches. Contractors must be licensed by the General Contractors Licensure Board of Alabama and meet the statutory requirements, including maintaining a license in good standing. All bidders shall include their license number with the submission of the bid. A certified check or bank draft, payable to the order of Tuscaloosa Housing Authority or a satisfactory bid bond executed by the bidder and an acceptable surety company in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the total bid, but in no event more than ten thousand dollars ($10,000), shall be submitted with each bid. Acceptable Surety Companies are listed in the current issue of the U.S. Department of the Treasury Circular 570. The successful bidder will be required to furnish and pay for both satisfactory performance and payment bond(s) in the amount equal to 100% of the contract price.
