King County Housing Authority (KCHA) will accept bids from qualified general contractors to furnish labor, materials and necessary equipment to perform the following: SCOPE OF WORK: Work includes, but is not limited to, pool and deck decommission and removal, and place and finish new concrete slab as indicated in the plan and specifications and other tasks as described in the bid documents. The Work consists of, but is not limited to, pool and deck decommission and removal, and place and finish new concrete slab as indicated in the plan and specifications and includes the following: 1. Empty and disconnect pool vessel. Remove and dispose all fencing materials. 2. Demolition and offsite disposal of concrete pool deck, coping, tiles, pool structure, main drain covers and light fixture, cover, and all pool equipment including filters, pumps, piping, manifolds, heater, and all other related pool equipment and plumbing. 3. Break out the bottom of the pool structure to allow for future drainage. 4. Demolish pool structure and deck. Demo pool structure down to 24" below surface finish grade. Break up structural debris to maximum size of 12" and place to fill in lower pool vessel up to 18-20" below finish grade. Dispose offsite any surplus debris. 5. Place and compact 5/8" minus crushed rock over rubble in pool area for top 18-20" of void, compacted to 90%, to allow for 4" concrete slab to be placed on top of fill and meet existing finish grades. Compact in 12" lifts and coordinate with owner provided soils engineer to verify compaction. Slope deck surface grades away from building for proper drainage. 6. Place and finish concrete slab to match the area of demolished deck. Layout of deck location to be approved by owner prior to placing rebar and pouring concrete. Fill in planter beds and integrate these areas into the new deck. 7. Furnish and install new concrete pool deck with 2'x2'saw cuts. Layout for saw cuts to be approved by owner prior to making cuts. 8. Secure and terminate any remaining pipes, conduits, electrical wiring, water supply lines, drain lines or other utility connections where demolished work has been performed. 9. PERFORMANCE AND PAYMENT BONDS: As a condition of award Performance and Payment bonds for 100% of the Contract Award Amount shall be furnished for the Work. On contracts of one hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000.00) or less, at Contractors option the requirement may be waived in lieu of an additional 5% (total 10%) retainage.
