The Giles County Board of Supervisors is soliciting qualifications and proposals for civil engineering services to assist in the design of a trail system extending from the new Trail Center at Mountain Lake to Bald Knob and the Appalachian Trail, in association with a $500,000 Federal Lands Access Program grant. The project will consist of 2.5 miles of trail construction, 1,200 liner feet of sidewalk, parking area, and trail signage design. The design services will include surveying, stormwater evaluation and design, pavement design, permitting, construction monitoring, and coordination with landowner and the Department of Transportation. MBE/WBE/SBE/SWaM/DBE firms are encouraged to submit qualifications. Applicants must comply with the following: President's Executive Order Number 11246 prohibiting discrimination in employment regarding race, color, creed, sex, or national origin; the President's Executive Orders Number 12138 and 11625 regarding utilization of MBE/WBE firms; and the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as well as all other VDOT requirements. Bidders must certify that they do not or will not maintain or provide for their employees any facilities that are segregated on the basis of race, color, creed, or national origin The Board reserves the right to reject any or all proposals or to decline the award to any or all Proposers. The submission of a proposal does not by implication or expression commit the Board to enter into an agreement with that Proposer, or any other Proposer. No agreement shall occur until a resolution formally approving such agreement has been enacted by the Board and a written contract has been executed.
