Scope: o Demo existing 28" brick wall attached to building. o Remove existing double metal door and keep for re install. o Demo existing 68" brick wall and planter. o Construct 5 16"x16"x8' CMU and brick columns. Per drawings provided. o Brick to match existing brick on columns and building. o Core drill existing concrete for column footings. Concrete to be 3000psi. o #6 bar to run continuous thru brick/cmu column per drawings. o CMU to be filled with grout. o Re install double metal door in location provided on drawing. o Remove and relocate 2nd existing metal double door to location provided on drawing. o Furnish and install metal fencing that matches material, design and color of existing fencing in locations provided on drawing. o Relocate electrical supply to metal double door for card scan hardw Board approval: May 7, 2024 (If $100,000 or more) - Notice to Proceed: May 8, 2024 - Project Completion Date: July 31, 2024 - Submittals to be provided upon receipt of PO to assure materials available at project start date - Contractor to provide Schedule to CPP including permitting, submittals, construction start, delivery dates, timeline for major construction activities, final clean-up, and punch list - If work involves weekends or holidays Contractor to have schedule approved in advance by Capital Projects & Planning. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Demo and dispose of portion of existing brick walls. Relocate 2 existing metal doors. Build 5 brick columns. Provide and install metal fencing to match design and color of existing fence. See Exhibit 1 for a detailed description of the project scope and requirements, and for school addresses. PROJECT SCHEDULE: The Contractor shall begin the work upon receipt of the Purchase Order, and expeditiously, with adequate forces, complete the work within the specified calendar days. The required milestone dates, and completion date are included in Exhibit 1. The contractor shall coordinate all work with Operations personnel to ensure minimal disruption to school activities. Should the Contractor fail to substantially complete the Work on or before the date stipulated for Substantial Completion, or such later date as may result from extension of time granted by Owner, he shall pay the Owner, as liquidated damages, the sum of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) for each consecutive calendar day that terms of the contract remain unfulfilled beyond the date allowed by the Contract, which sum is agreed upon as a reasonable and proper measure of damages which the Owner will sustain per day by failure of the Contractor to complete Work within time as stipulated; it being recognized by the Owner and the Contractor that the injury to the Owner which could result from a failure of the Contractor to complete on schedule is uncertain and cannot be computed exactly. In no way shall costs for liquidated damages be construed as a penalty on the Contractor. TERMS AND CONDITIONS Brunswick County Schools Contract is included in Exhibit 2. The selected contractor will be required to sign this contract, and Sexual Offender Registry Check Certification Form, as each are a part of this Request for Bid and will govern this work.
