Selma University is seeking competitive proposals from architectural service firms interested in the renovation of Pollard Hall under Selma University's U. S. Department of Interior Nation Park Services Grant Agreement. All proposals must include a resume of the firm with a particular emphasis on historic restoration and renovation projects you have completed and were overseen by the Nation Park Service. Include in your qualifications all structural, electrical, and mechanical engineers and their experiences in historic preservation work. Purpose of the Request Selma University in Selma, Alabama is seeking Architectural services for the renovations and rehabilitation of historic Pollard Hall located on the campus of Selma University. Pollard Hall is a two-story brick building approximately 107 years old. The project is funded by a grant from the National Park Service and University funds. All work on historic Pollard Hall will be reviewed by the National Park Service as well as local government agencies. The building is not currently occupied. The roof needs repairs, and the electrical and plumbing system needs upgrades, the HVAC system needs to be upgraded, and there is evidence of termite damage. The goal of this project is a full restoration of the building that meets the Secretary of the Interiors standards for Historic Restoration and upgrades to all code requirements and HVAC and electrical systems. Pollard Hall is an extremely important site in the 20th -century African Civil Rights movement, and your firm's experience in restoring and renovating historic structures is a very important consideration. PROPOSAL SELECTION PROCESS : Selma University will rank firms on the following criteria: 15% 1. Experience of design team working on historic renovations. 10% 2. Experience in working with local or National Historical Commission. 15% 3. Experience working on types of projects of this size and condition. 20% 4. Project approach and proposed methodologies. 20% 5. Timeline for completion date and deliverable submission. 10% 6. Identify the project team and list their qualifications. 10% 7. Firm references. Neither the architectural firm nor the employees hired by the architectural firm who is awarded a contract for this project and work directly or indirectly on the project shall do any of the following: a) Use his or her position for actual or apparent purpose of private gain for him or herself or another person; other than payment for services rendered; or b) Convey inside information to any person for the purpose of private gain for him or herself or for another person, when that information has not become part of the body of public information, and would not be available upon request; or c) Engage in teaching lecturing, or writing that is dependent upon information obtained as a result of his or her activities under this contract, except when that information has been made available to the general public, or will be made available upon request, or with the written authorization of Selma University. Selma University and the National Park Service strictly prohibit unlawful discrimination based on race, color, national origin, age, disability, gender, or sexual orientation.
