Renovation of a mixed-use development in Croton on Hudson, New York. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 9,500-square-foot, one-story above grade educational facility.
A. The Work of the Project is defined by the Contract Documents and consists of the following 1. The scope of the Work of this project is renovations and improvements to the outdoor athletic facilities at two schools, as follows a. Athletic facilities work at Carrie E Tompkins Elementary School Athletic Fields including new turf field and track, new bleachers and press box, concession stand, and upper field renovations. b. Athletic facilities work at Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School including new turf upper field and playground renovations. B. Work at Existing Sites: Existing conditions are shown on the drawings to the best knowledge of the Architect. The Architect, however, cannot guarantee the correctness of the existing conditions shown and assumes no responsibility therefore. It shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to verify all existing conditions. 1. Contractor shall take all necessary field measurements prior to fabrication and installation of work and shall assume complete responsibility for accuracy of same. Project No. 23043 Project Control Nos. 66-02-02-03-0-001-033 66-02-02-03-0-002-030 66-02-02-03-0-003-034 66-02-02-03-7-010-008 66-02-02-03-7-017-001 66-02-02-03-7-018-001 Each bid proposal must be accompanied by a certified check payable to Croton-Harmon Union Free School District or by a Bid Bond for a sum equal to five percent (5%) of the bid, as set forth in the Instructions to Bidders. All bid security, except those of the three low bidders for each prime contract will be returned within four days after proposals are submitted. The bid security provided by the three low bidders for each prime contract will be returned after execution of the Contract(s). The Owner may require the successful bidder to provide separate Performance and Labor & Materials Payment Bonds in the amount of the contract price and in the form specified in the Bid Documents. To the fullest extent allowed by law, the Owner reserves the right to reject bids that contain omissions, exceptions, or modifications, or in their sole discretion to waive such irregularities, or to reject any or all bids or to accept any bid which is in the best interest of the Owner. All Requests for Information must be sent in writing to the Architect via email (sdavis@kgdarchitects.com) no later than 5 business days prior to bid opening. TIME SCHEDULE It is the intent of the Owner to award the Contracts for the Work on or about two (2) weeks after receipt of bids. Immediately upon receipt of Notice of Award of Contract from Owner, Contractors shall begin preparing required bonds, insurance certificates and other required submittals. Work may be performed at the site only upon receipt of written authorization (Notice to Proceed) from Owner and after the approval of the required submissions. The anticipated Notice to Proceed/start of construction date is as indicated in the Project Milestone Schedule included at the end of Section 011000 "Summary." The Work shall be Substantially Complete on or before the date(s) indicated in the Project Milestone Schedule included at the end of Section 011000 "Summary." All correspondence must be addressed to subject line "CHUFSD Athletic Facilities and Security Upgrades". SCOPE OF SERVICES The geotechnical investigation was performed for the Croton Harmon UFSD (hereafter referred to as the Client), and coordinated through Triton Construction Company, herein referred to as Client Agent. The scope of the geotechnical investigation consisted of the following: o Review of geological information publicly available through the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and the National Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). o Drilling, sampling, and logging of test borings, probes, and infiltration tests within the areas of the proposed site improvements as follows: o Eight (8) borings, designated as borings B-1 through B-8, advanced adjacent to the proposed athletic field improvements, to depths up to 8 feet below ground surface (bgs). o Three (3) borings, designated as borings B-1A through B-1C, for the proposed concession and parking improvements, to depths up to 13.5 feet bgs. o Four (4) borings, designated as B-L1 through B-L4, advanced adjacent to the multipurpose athletic field for proposed light poles, to depths up to 19 feet bgs. o Two (2) borings, designated as B-S1 and B-S2 for the proposed scoreboard, grandstand, and associated athletic field improvements, to depths up to 17.5 feet bgs. o Performance of four (4) infiltration tests, designated as INF-1 through INF-4, advanced within the existing multipurpose athletic field. o Field inspection by a Tectonic representative, working under the purview of a New York State licensed Professional Engineer, to locate the borings and infiltration tests; and log and classify all soil samples. o Laboratory testing of soil samples selected to help in the field classifications of the soils, and to evaluate the engineering characteristics of the soil. o Geotechnical engineering analyses of the subsurface conditions and laboratory test results as they relate to the proposed site improvements. o Preparation of this report presenting the results of the subsurface investigation, engineering analyses, and our geotechnical recommendations for the design and construction for the geotechnical aspects of the proposed site improvements.
