Site work and new construction of a municipal facility in Bedford, Virginia. Conceptual plans call for the construction of a municipal facility.
A new social services building to house part of the social services department into two buildings instead of four. Due to space, resource, and citizen service concerns; there have been ongoing discussions about the future of the DSS offices. Per past discussions, the consensus has been to place a consolidated DSS building (approx. 30,000sf) at either the Elba property or the county property on Falling Creek Road between BRWA and the county garage. There is a desire to revisit the conversation about a preferred site so staff can proceed with next steps. The project is included in the County's FY2025-2029 Capital Improvement Plan. As of June 27, 2024, project is funded for FY2025-2026. Project location is still under discussion. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
