The Mason County Road Commission hereby notifies all bidders that it will affirmatively insure that in any contract entered pursuant to this advertisement, disadvantaged business enterprise will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of sex, race, color or national origin in consideration for an award. The Board reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids, to waive any irregularities in the bids and to make award in any manner they deem to be in the best interest of Mason County. The work of HMA Crushing and Shaping, Modified, shall conform to the requirements of Section 501 of the 2020 Standard Specifications for Construction, except herein modified. Approximately 3” of aggregate will be added to the existing HMA surface (excluding Stations 10+10 to 11+50 & 84+00 to 90+40), paid as aggregate base (ton) and sufficient gravel added in the trenches before crushing the existing HMA surface. The work of HMA Crushing and Shaping, Modified, will consist of pulverizing the existing HMA surface and underlying aggregate for the entire width, regardless of the thickness or uniformity of the existing HMA material as directed by the Engineer to an estimated depth of 9” according to Soil Borings. This work includes pulverizing the overlying aggregate, existing HMA and underlying aggregate. All excess pulverized material will be used as aggregate base and/or maintenance gravel as directed by the Engineer. Pulverized material used as maintenance gravel as directed by the Engineer will be paid as Salvaged Crushed Material, LM (Cyd). Additional gravel may be required to construct the aggregate base and shall be paid as Aggregate Base (Ton). The Contractor shall be careful not to contaminate the pulverized materials. The Engineer reserves the right to reject the pulverized material if contaminated. The contaminated material shall then become the property of the Contractor and shall be removed and disposed of and replaced with 22A aggregate at the Contractors expense.
