As of April 15, 2024, project will rebid, no information for rebid date. Project: School District 152 1/2 - Lighting Fixture Upgrades Location: Barack H. Obama Learning Academy, Jesse C. White Learning Academy SCOPE OF WORK This project titled "Lighting Fixture Upgrades consists of the following major elements: 1. Upgrade/retrofit of existing lighting fixtures to LED; 2. Lighting control upgrades and improvements; 3. All other work indicated on the drawings and in the project manual for this project. All work on this project will be awarded to one prime contractor. Proposals must be submitted on the forms provided. All proposals or bids offered must be accompanied by a bid bond in a form acceptable to the School Board in the amount of not less than five percent (5%) of the total amount of the proposal as a guarantee that if the proposal is accepted, a contract shall be entered into and the performance of the contract is properly secured. Bid security in the form of a Bid Bond or Certified Check for 5% (five percent) of the bid. No bid shall be withdrawn after the opening of the proposals without the consent of School District 152 1/2 for a period of sixty (60) days after the scheduled time of closing bids. All employees of the Contractor or Subcontractor(s) on construction work for this Project shall be paid wages at rates not less than those prevailing on similar construction in the locality as determined by the Department of Labor in accordance with the applicable provisions of the "Wages of Employees on Public Works Act" (Prevailing Wage Act, Illinois Rev. Stat., 820 ILCS 130/1 et. seq.) and with all applicable provisions of the Illinois' Preference Act, 30 ILCS 570/.01 et. seq. The successful Bidder of the construction of the improvement will be required to file a performance and payment bond equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the contract, with sureties to be approved by the Architect, which performance bonds shall be conditioned upon proper and faithful performance by the Contractor of the work specified in accordance with the plans and specifications therefore, according to the time and terms and conditions of the contract: and also that the successful Bidder, now the Contractor, shall properly pay all debts incurred by the Contractor in the execution of the work, including those for labor and material furnished for himself and all of his subcontractors. The bonding company shall have a minimum rating of "A- IX" in accordance with Best's Key Rating Guide n Latest Edition. The Contractor shall be required to furnish sufficient insurance or guaranty of indemnity to School District 152 1/2 against any and all claims which might arise for damages to persons or property due to the negligence of the Contractor or Subcontractors, or their officers, agents, employees or servants, during the construction of said improvement and until the said improvement has been finally accepted as complete by the School District 152 1/2. The Owner reserves the right to reject any and all proposals or bids. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any formalities in the bidding. The Owner reserves the right to reject any contractor who in the opinion of the architect is not qualified. Contractors may ask architect for approval of subcontractor list before submitting proposal. A subcontractor list, which also includes a list of all the products to be incorporated into this project, shall be required from all the contractors within five (5) business days of being notified that they are the successful bidders as evidenced by issuance of the letter of intent from the Architect to the Contractor. Failure of the contractors to supply this list to the architect within 5 days will require same contractors to furnish all materials and/or equipment called for on the drawings and/or in the specifications with no changes or substitutions permitted. If a substitution request is to be made, it shall be accompanied by adequate technical and cost data. The architect or engineer shall be under no obligation to consider untimely or inadequately documented or exploratory submissions. It is anticipated that Hazel Crest School District 152 1/2 will consider these bids at a Board Meeting in March of 2024 for either award or rejection. Submission of a bid for this work is at the bidder's sole discretion, cost, and risk. Construction Work shall commence immediately after award and contracts are executed. The start of construction shall commence upon 1) issuance of a letter of intent to the Contractor from the Architect (issued on behalf of the Owner); 2) submission of required certificate of insurance; 3) submission of Schedule of Values complete with all subcontractors listed; and 4) submission of required performance and payment bond. It is incumbent upon the successful bidder to submit all required documents within 5 business days of issuance of letter of intent. Work shall be scheduled with the Owner for unoccupied times, but not later than June 3, 2024. Substantial completion shall be achieved not later than August 1, 2024. Final completion shall be achieved not later than 15 days following Substantial Completion.
