Description The future Bancroft Parking Structure will replace the existing parking and tennis structure located on the University of California Berkeley campus. The existing Bancroft Garage and Tennis site is located on the southern edge of the Campus Park, with frontage along Bancroft Way. The current Bancroft Garage is a one-story parking structure with tennis courts above. The Campus Master Plan has identified that the site be redeveloped to introduce a larger parking structure. The footprint of the single level parking lot with tennis courts is approximately 164' x 234'. It is anticipated that the new parking structure will occupy the same footprint and be a maximum of 8 stories, not to exceed 230,000 sf accommodate approximately 640 stalls, bicycle parking, elevators, and will have capacity to accommodate a cooling tower for the University's future growth. The entry points to the new parking structure will utilize the same driveways as the existing parking structure. The project may require rerouting or adding of utilities, removal of landscaping and/or structures, or other similar work that will need to be coordinated by the design and construction team. Site access, construction circulation, laydown areas, etc. will need to be coordinated closely with the University. The existing site is in close proximity to the historical Hearst Gymnasium and Anthropology and Art Practice Building which will both be occupied and have course instruction during construction. More specific information regarding access, parking stall count, integrated bike parking room(s) and other constraints will be provided within the criteria documents issued in the Request for proposals.
