**As of May 1, 2024 this project has been cancelled and no definite date for the rebid.** The Berwick Electric Commission of Berwick Electric Commission (BEC) is a municipal owned electric utility that provides electricity to over 1,600 customers in and to the south of the Berwick Electric Commission of Berwick proper. BEC owns and operates a hundred-year-old hydroelectrical facility that generates on average 4% of the utility's overall energy load. BEC is seeking proposals from qualified contractors for the removal, repair and/or replacement of a damaged 31-inch (78.74mm) diameter Francis turbine at its hydroelectric plant at Factorydale, Kings County, NS. The wicket gates and the turbine vanes are severely damaged, and access is difficult.
