Renovation of a fitness / recreation center in Gadsden, Alabama. Completed plans call for the renovation of a fitness / recreation center.

Carver Gym Roof Replacement Project A Cashier's Check (drawn on an Alabama bank) or Bid Bond for 5% of the amount bid (maxi-mum of $10,000) and made payable to the City of Gadsden, Alabama must accompany each bid as evidence of good faith. It is not required that a contractor be licensed in order to submit a bid; however, prior to award of a contract, proper proof of all applicable licensures must be provided by the contractor, proof of insurance coverages of the types and amounts as set forth in the project specifications will be required of the contractor, and any and all subcontractors, prior to beginning work. The contractor will be required to perform work amounting to at least 30% of the total contract cost with its own organization. This is a Federally Funded Project. The proposed work shall be performed in conformity with the rules and regulations for carrying out the Federal Highway Act and other acts amendatory, supplementary, or relative thereto. The project is subject to the Contract Work Hours and Safe-ty Standards Act and its implementing regulations. MBE/DBE participation is encouraged; however, no specific MBE/DBE goals have been established for this project. Minimum wage rates (Davis Bacon Act) for this project have been pre-determined by the Secretary of Labor and are set forth in the advertised specifications. In accordance with TITLE 49, Code of Federal Regulations, all bidders are hereby notified that it will be affirmatively ensured that in the contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, minority business enterprises will be afforded full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, religion, sex or national origin in consideration for an award. The successful bidder will be required to furnish and pay for the satisfactory Performance and Payment Bond or Bonds in the amount required by Section 39-1-1(a), Code of Alabama 1975, and evidence of insurance as required by the bid documents within ten (10) days after being notified that he has been awarded the contract. No bidder may withdraw his bid within six (60) days after the actual date of the opening there-of. The bidder must comply with all requirements of the public works bid law Section 39-2-1 et seq., Code of Alabama 1975. The right to reject any or all bids and to disregard any minor irregularities is reserved by the owner. Any bidder, whether a resident or non-resident of the State of Alabama, must comply with all applicable provisions of Section 34-8-1, et. seq., Code of Alabama, 1975, including requirements for licensing as a general contractor and the necessity to show evidence of license, be-fore the bid will be considered by the awarding authority. A current license number must be included on the bid or a statement that is has been applied for. Bidders must comply with the President's Nos. 11246 and 11375 which prohibit discrimination in employment regarding race, creed, color, sex, or national origin. Bidders must also comply with Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of1968, and Section III of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968, as amended, 12 U.S.C. 170lu. By signing this contract, the contracting parties affirm, for the duration of the agreement, that they will not violate federal immigration law or knowingly employ, hire for employment, or continue to employ an unauthorized alien within the state of Alabama. Furthermore, a contracting party found to be in violation of this provision shall be deemed in breach of the agreement and shall be responsible for all damages resulting therefrom. Bidders must certify that they do not and will not maintain or provide for their employees any facilities that are segregated on a basis of race creed, color, sex, or national origin. Bidders must also certify they will make facilities handicap accessible to the extent required by law. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
