Site work for an educational facility in Dendron, Virginia. Completed plans call for site work for a educational facility.
The work includes Track Replacement, new Shot Put and Throws locations, and Associated Site Work at Surry County High School. Work consists of demolishing/ reclaiming old track and installing new track, adding shot put and throw locations, and all associated site work related to those tasks. The undersigned understands that time is of the essence and agrees that the date for Substantial Completion of the entire project shall be on or before August 2, 2024, and Final Completion shall be achieved by August 16, 2024. Each bid shall be accompanied by a bid security in the form of a Bid Bond or cashier's or certified check in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total bid, made payable to the School Board of Surry County, Virginia. This Bid Bond or cashier's check or certified check pledges that the bidder will enter a Contract with the Owner on the terms stated in the Bid and will furnish bonds covering faithful performance of the Contract and payment of all obligations arising thereunder. Should the bidder refuse to enter such a Contract or fail to furnish such bonds, the amount representing the difference between the bid of the defaulting bidder and the next highest acceptable bid shall be forfeited to the Owner as provided in Va. The undersigned and the Owner agree in advance that if substantial completion of the entire contract as described above is not achieved and certified by the Architect, on or before dates indicated, there shall be deducted from the contract price, not as a penalty, but as liquated damages, the sum of One Thousand Dollars $1,000.00, for each and every calendar day of delay in the completion of that work required to achieve substantial completion beyond the time stipulated. The undersigned understands and agrees that time is of the essence. The contract, if awarded, will be awarded as soon as possible, but not more than sixty (60) days after bid opening date, to the bidder submitting the lowest responsible base bid. If alternatives are provided on the bid form, they will not be considered in determining the lowest bid; however, such alternatives if approved will be selected based upon the Owner's interests and available funds. The Owner reserves the right to waive any technicalities or formalities in any bid or in the bidding Bid Bond or Checks of successful bidder will be returned upon acceptance of the 100% performance bond and separate 100% payment bond. Checks of other bidders, not previously forfeited, will be returned as soon as it is determined that the bids presented by the checks will receive no further consideration by the Owner. The Owner reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, to waive irregularities or informalities as may be deemed in the Owner's interest.
