Conceptual plans call for the addition of a laboratory facility; for the demolition of a laboratory facility; for the renovation of a laboratory facility; and for site work for a laboratory facility.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The scope of work includes but is not limited to expansion to accommodate current and projected operational needs proficiently and safely. The overall project is envisioned as a 30,000 square feet addition to the existing Penn State Animal Diagnostic Laboratory (ADL). The ADL was originally constructed in1956 with renovations and a significant addition being completed in 1999. The new addition will house a sample receiving area, shared core laboratory space, Bacteriology, Serology, Virology, Histopathology, Parasitology labs., Molecular Diagnostics, Pathology and conference, office, and support spaces. Also included in the project is the replacement of the existing incinerator. Exploration of options for the disposal of animals and samples must be explored in the initial phase of the project. Other renovations to the existing facility and demolition of existing adjacent buildings will be explored as budget permits. ESTIMATED CONSTRUCTION COST: $46,670,250.00.
