Site work for a civil project in Topeka, Kansas. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
Rehabilitation of 7 Unit Relief Wells. 3 Relief Wells are located at the Auburndale Levee Unit and 4 Relief Wells located at the Oakland Levee Unit. This rehabilitation will include CCTV inspection before and after the rehabilitation process, water sampling prior to treatment, mechanical treatment, chemical treatment, pump testing, and a final report detailing the process followed, observations, and conclusions. The City of Topeka is accepting bids for the rehabilitation of seven relief wells supporting infrastructure at the Auburndale and Oakland levee units. This includes the Auburndale relief wells, located along the south side of I-70 and east of MacVicar. There are a total of 15 wells at this location, but only three of these wells need to be rehabilitated, specifically RW#2, RW#4, and RW#11. The Oakland relief wells are located north of NE Seward and east of K-4 Hwy. There are a total of 22 wells at this location, but only four of these wells need to be rehabilitated, specifically RW#1, RW#10, RW#18, and RW#20. The Water Pollution Control Division will issue a Start Work Order after contract execution by the city. All bids must be accompanied by a cashier's check or a bid bond for not less than 5% of the of the amount bid, made payable to the City of Topeka, KS. Contractor shall furnish performance and payment Bonds, each in an amount equal to the Contract Price as security for the faithful performance and payment of all Contractor's obligations under the Contract Documents. These Bonds shall remain in effect at least until one year after the date when final payment becomes due, except as otherwise provided by Law or Regulation or by the Contract Documents. The performance bond shall acknowledge the one year correction period in accordance with the requirements of Article 13. The work will be complete and ready for final acceptance/payment within 30 days of the Start Work Order. Question Deadline 04/06/2024 at 3:30 PM CT Phase 1 1. Contractor will brush and bail the well and then conduct a pre-treatment downhole TV/Survey to inspect the condition and integrity of the well structure, casing, and screen. 2. Contractor will introduce an approved acid mixture into the well using a single disk surge block. The mixture will be surge blocked for 6 hours and left overnight. 3. The following day the mixture will be surged an additional 2 hours, unless the pH rises above 4, at which time the mixture should be neutralized to a pH of 5 to 9 and pumped to waste. 4. A step drawdown specific capacity test will be recorded after completion of this phase. If the specific capacity is not 80%, or higher, of the original specific capacity, the contractor will proceed with Phase 2 services (original specific capacities will be provided to the contractor prior to work commencing). If the specific capacity is 80% or higher than the original specific capacity, the contractor will proceed to Phase 3. B. Phase 2 1. Contractor will use high-velocity surge or other approved methodsto adequately dislodge encrustations and loosen the filter media around the well screen, while simultaneously pumping to remove any scale or mineral deposits dislodged from the surface. A step drawdown specific capacity test will be recorded after completion of this phase. C. Phase 3 1. Contractor will provide an approved disinfection mixture and surge the solution using a single disk surge block. Surging will continue for 2 to 3 hours and it will be left in the well overnight. 2. The solution will be surged for an hour the following morning and then pumped to waste. The last specific capacity of the well will be recorded after the completion of this phase. 3. A full report of the health of the well will be provided to the City.
