Bids are invited upon the several items and quantities of work as follows: mobilization, traffic control, permitting, sewer cleaning, sewer televising. A certified check or bank draft, payable to the order of the City of Canton, Illinois, negotiable U.S. Government bonds (at par value) or a satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the Bidder and an acceptable surety in an amount equal to ten percent (10%) of the total Bid shall be submitted with each Bid. This contract calls for the construction of a "public work," within the meaning of the Illinois Prevailing Wage Act, 820 ILCS 130/.01 et seq. ("the Act"). The Act requires CONTRACTORS and SUBCONTRACTORS to pay laborers, workers and mechanics performing services on public works projects no less than the "prevailing rate of wages" (hourly cash wages plus fringe benefits) in the county where the work is performed. All CONTRACTORS and SUBCONTRACTORS rendering services under this contract must comply with all requirements of the Act, including but not limited to, all wage, notice and record keeping duties. The City of Canton, Illinois, reserves the right to reject any or all Bids or to waive any informalities in the bidding. Bids may be held by the City of Canton, Illinois, for a period not to exceed 90 days from the date of the opening of Bids for the purpose of reviewing the Bids and investigating the qualifications of Bidders, prior to awarding of the Contract.
