The scope of work on this project is to replace the expansion joints on each end of the existing bridges on 1-81, both NB and SB, repair some minor concrete spalling at each expansion joint's location and to clean and seal the bridges. Less than 1.0 acre of disturbance is anticipated. All work within existing Right of Way and all work within the existing bridge limits. WVDOT - 002 - Bessemer Overhead +1 The work shall consist of the cleaning, crack sealing, and crack filling in asphalt pavement in the manner and subject to the conditions and regulations prescribed. The work shall consist of removing all or part of the existing expansion joint assemblies as shown in the plans, modifying existing expansion dam as directed in the plans to accept the new bridge expansion joint system, furnishing and placing structural concrete or elastomeric concrete for the installation of the new bridge expansion joint system as directed in the plans, and placing a new Preformed Silicone Coated Foam Bridge Expansion Joint System at the locations indicated on the plans. The construction shall be in accordance with this Specification and in reasonably close conformity with the plans or as established by the Engineer. General maintenance will be performed to the expansion joints, deck, and parapet walls. Traffic will be reduced to two lanes and maintained by use of traffic signs through the project area during construction. This project will not require additional right of way.
