The City of Martinsville is requesting bids for Telecommunication Service included in our Broadband Expansion Project The City of Martinsville, Virginia, acting through its Department of Telecommunications, is requesting proposals from qualified contractors to expand the current Fiber To The Home footprint. The intent of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to obtain proposals from firms who can install Optical Fiber and associated products on utility poles to prepare each street with the Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) product in the City of Martinsville. The City of Martinsville does own all infrastructure to be used for residential or commercial broadband use. The infrastructure placed to meet the requirements is wholly the responsibility of the awarded Offeror and must adhere to all rules and regulations provided by the Electric, Traffic Control, and Telecommunications Departments. Services : To include but not limited to: o Make Ready: Adjust previously placed attachments either up or down on approximately 193 utility poles to meet the required spacing for the new Optical Attachment o Place Fiber Optic Cable on Utility Poles: Requires drilling holes through poles, placing proper attachments, and down guying where necessary. o Placing 2 Fiber Flat and or Round cables on utility Poles o Hang four and eight port splitters o Place ground-mounted Pedestals o Place and prepare 96 port and 24 port splice enclosures o Splice Optical Cable o Where space is not acceptable, Utility Pole change-replacement/ change out is required o Place Dead-End assemblies and in-line tangents on utility poles for optical cable o Prepare Footers for 30" X 24" X 36" Pad o Trench / Plow / Bore underground Cabling o Place the telecommunications cabinet on the Pad mentioned above o Secure Electrical Permits Inspections etc. for the above cabinet o Secure proper lane closure and signage required by the City If you have any questions regarding this bid please do not hesitate to email zmorris@ci.martinsville.va.us or call 276-403-5354. The City of Martinsville, Virginia, reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive any and all informalities therein, and the award shall, if made, be made to the lowest responsive responsible bidder, or bidders, taking into consideration the quality of materials, labor, and equipment. Based upon the bids received, the City of Martinsville reserves the right to adjust the quantity of work to match available funding. The successful bidder will be required to affect such liability insurance as will be necessary to save the City of Martinsville harmless and will be required to furnish a certificate of such insurance. All materials used and work done shall be subject to the inspection, test and approval of the Director of Telecommunications and Electric Department of the City of Martinsville, Virginia, or his duly authorized representatives.
