Renovation of an educational facility in Gainesville, Florida. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

As of July 2, 2024, this project is in the conceptual phase. An architect has not been selected. Construction is expected to be completed by April 2027. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: This project consists of rehabilitating and remodeling the Infirmary building to house the new Hamilton Center for Classical and Civic Education, which President Sasse described as "soon to be UF's 17th college." The Infirmary, a Collegiate Gothic building listed in the National Register of Historic Places and located within the Historic District of campus, is befitting of the Hamilton Center's state-mandated directive to develop a curriculum in Western Civilization, the Great Books, and the American Founding. Originally constructed in 1931, the Infirmary has deteriorated considerably, and its condition is generally unacceptable in terms of health, safety, and ADA compliance. This project will rehabilitate this building while remodeling to provide for faculty and affiliated scholar offices, classrooms, conference rooms, book storage, and flexible spaces for reading and studying across the buildings 48,724 gross square feet. This project must coordinate with utilities updates on the surrounding site, and anticipated construction on Fletcher Drive. The estimated construction budget is approximately $33,000,000, including, but not limited to, site improvements, underground utilities, roof rehabilitation, building envelope rehabilitation, ADA accessibility and required accommodations, and other building modifications/renovations. The project will be delivered using the Construction Manager At-Risk method. Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council is mandatory. This project must also coordinate design efforts with the Florida Division of Historical Resources. Additional information to assist the applicant in preparing a complete proposal - including the project-specific PQS forms, instructions, Project Fact Sheet, facilities program, UF Design and Commissioning Services Guide, UF Design and Construction Standards, standard University of Florida Owner-Professional agreement, and other project and process information - can be found on the Planning Design & Construction website. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
