Renovation of an educational facility in Toronto, Ontario. Design plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
Renovation of existing building at the St. George Campus. Part 1: 33 Ursula Franklin Street for Facilities & Services (F&S) including Campus Safety. Part 2 Optional Scope: 175 College Street for Campus Safety (CS) in lieu of at 33 Ursula Franklin. The project aims to repurpose available existing space within the buildings located at 33 Ursula Franklin St. and 175 College St. by relocating several F&S groups currently located across various facilities on the St. George Campus, including 215 Huron, 256 McCaul, and Sussex Court. One of the main goals of the project is to help integrating several synergistic F&S functions and departments into one single location, which will facilitate the creation of an F&S service hub at 33 Ursula Franklin. This shift will assist promoting a more centralized model that will help F&S improve service delivery, streamline processes, enhance overall operational efficiencies, and promote collaboration across departments. The project anticipates minor renovations and improvements required to integrate the intended program, while providing flexible and collaborative workspaces, with an emphasis on maximizing existing layouts and minimizing the need for extensive renovations. As the two buildings are relatively new to the University facilities stock, the information on the buildings existing conditions is limited; therefore, it is anticipated the potential need of some improvements to address code requirements, abatement of hazardous and asbestos-containing materials in certain areas, and retrofits to M&E building systems due to ductwork reconfiguration, and specific ventilation and power requirements within the workshop areas to name a few. TIMELINE: A Request For Proposals from Architectural Services has been awarded by the University of Toronto following an evaluation committee. Concept planning has been completed illustrating issues and approaches to demonstrate working methods. A detailed scope of work will be finalized based on approval of the design study. 'Future schedules for working drawings, tender and construction will be determined as projects are identified to proceed.
