The project, for only the natural grass field replacement component of the work, is generally described as supplying, tilling and top-dressing of compost over rough-grade; final laser-grading and soil preparation; installing a sub-surface drainage system; and installing sprigs of grass on, and providing growl services, to include water monitoring, weed control, fertility and mowing, of a single playfield, Field No. 1, at the park. This work is just one component of three that involve related site work and the installation of an irrigation system; both of which are not a part of this solicitation. The contractor awarded this project will coordinate this work with that of those two separate contractors as further described on the drawings. The estimated construction cost range for this project is $100,000 - $250,000 A Bid Bond is required for any bid which exceeds $100,000. The "Time for Completion" will be as detailed in the Bid Form. Sealed bids are invited for the Darden Towe Park Grass Field Rebuild project at 1445 Darden Towe Park, Charlottesville, Virginia, 22911. REJECTION OF BIDS: The Owner reserves the right to cancel the Invitation for Bids, to reject any and all bids at its sole discretion when such rejection is in the interest of the Owner, or to reject the bid of any bidder who is determined to be not responsive or not responsible. See 2.2-4319, Code of Virginia. Any bid (including the Total Base Bid plus all Additive Bid Items) which exceeds one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) shall be accompanied by a Bid Bond payable to the Owner as oblige in an amount equal to five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid. A Bid Bond may be required for projects having bids of less than one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) if such requirement is stated in the Notice of Invitation for Bids. The Bid Bond must be issued by a surety company which is legally authorized by the Virginia State Corporation Commission to do fidelity and surety business in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The bid bond shall identify the name and address of an attorney-in-fact who is appointed to act on behalf of the surety.
