The contract shall commence on the Commencement Date set forth in the contract for furnish and deliver Asphalt Services and expire two (2) years later, unless terminated earlier in accordance with the provisions of this Contract. The City of Petersburg is located in the central section of the Commonwealth, 23 miles south of Richmond. It is located at the intersection of Interstate 95, 85 and US Rt. 460. The City has over 23 square miles that are within the Citys jurisdiction. EXTENSION OF CONTRACT: The City reserves the right to extend the Contract for any reason for a period or periods up to but not to exceed 12 months. This extension may be exercised when the City determines that an extension of the Contract is advantageous to the City. RENEWAL: The City, at its sole option may renew this Contract for up to two (2) one (1) year renewal terms by furnishing the Contractor with written notice of its decision to renew at least 90 calendar days before the expiration of the then-current term. Only when specifically requested in the bid documents shall each bid be accompanied by a bid bond with surety satisfactory to the City attorney or a cashiers check or a certified check, made payable to the Treasurer of the City of Petersburg. In the event of default by the bidder, the deposit shall be and represent liquidated damages to the City. Bids received without a bid bond, when specifically requested, shall be rejected and deemed nonresponsive.
