Location Various Routes Proposed Improvement on 04/05/24 Date Project Length . 1.75" HMA Surface Course, Bituminous Materials (Tack Coat), HMA Surface Removal - Butt Joints, Aggregate Wedge Shoulder, Ty B and Traffic Control. This project consists of an average 1.75" bituminous overlay over Junction Road from the Village limits of Davis Junction to Big Mound Road and Big Mound Road from Junction Road to IL Route 251 in Scott Township. The project also includes bituminous materials (tack coat), HMA pavement removal - butt joints, and traffic control. This project consists of an average 1.75" bituminous overlay over Junction Road from the Village limits of Davis Junction to Big Mound Road and Big Mound Road from Junction Road to IL Route 251 in Scott Township. The project also includes bituminous materials (tack coat), HMA pavement removal - butt joints, and traffic control. Minimum daily tons placed on the road shall be 500 tons or the completion of at least one location. The nominal compacted thickness of Hot-Mix Asphalt Surface Course placed shall be 1.75" Average. The HotMix Asphalt Surface Course shall be produced from one (1) plant only. Cost of sweeping and cleaning the existing bituminous surface shall be included in the contract unit price for Hot-Mix Asphalt Surface Course. All private drives shall be paved according to the enclosed detail. Special attention is called to the BLR 24 Standard. Care shall be taken to keep rolled edges to a minimum, driveways with rolled edges along the roadside edge shall be saw cut as directed by the Engineer. The density requirement shall be according to the HOT-MIX ASPHALT DENSITY (GROWTH CURVE) Special Provision included. This work shall comply with Section 406 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction and shall be paid for at the contract unit price per TON for HOT-MIX ASPHALT SURFACE COURSE. COMPACTION EQUIPMENT FOR HOT MIX ASPHALT: Rollers shall consist of (1) Vibratory Roller, (1) Tandem Finish Roller, and (1) Pneumatic Tired Roller, unless otherwise approved by the Engineer. PAVING EQUIPMENT The paver shall be equipped with a Full Vibratory Hydraulic variable width screed. HOT-MIX ASPHALT SURFACE REMOVAL - BUTT JOINT: This work shall be done in accordance with the applicable provisions of Section 406 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. This work shall consist of milling the existing pavement in the roadway and at the right-of-way in paved entrances. Surface removal in the road shall consist of sawing joints at right angles to the roadway and removing the existing asphalt with a Roto-Mill as directed by the Engineer. The BUTT JOINTS shall be the full width of the pavement at varying depths and lengths as shown in the butt joint details. Milling, hauling, and disposal of the millings shall be paid for at the contract price per Square Yard for HOTMIX ASPHALT SURFACE REMOVAL - BUTT JOINT. AGGREGATE WEDGE SHOULDER: Aggregate Wedge Shoulder, Type B shall be 3' wide by 2.5" tapered to 0" shall be placed on each side of the completed Hot-Mix Asphalt Pavement as directed by the Engineer. The material shall meet the requirements of C.A. 10 as specified in Section 1004 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. This work shall comply with Section 481 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction and shall be paid for at the contract unit price per TON for AGGREGATE WEDGE SHOULDER, TYPE B. TRAFFIC CONTROL & PROTECTION Traffic Control shall be in accordance with the applicable sections of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, the applicable guidelines contained in the National Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways, Illinois Supplement to the National Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, these special provisions, and any details and Highway Standards contained herein and in the plans.
