The long-term goal of Exeter Borough, Luzerne County, is to have an approx. 1,700 long earthen levee designed, permitted, constructed into compliance with current US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) standards and achieve Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) accreditation. The location of the proposed levee would be in the rear of Susquehanna Avenue near the Susquehanna River. On behalf of Exeter Borough, the Luzerne County Flood Protection Authority (LCFPA) will function as the project administrator to solicit and select a professional engineering and surveying services firm to develop the construction deliverables. The end goal of this design phase is to have a shovel ready project so that Exeter Borough will be in an improved position to pursue grants to help program the necessary funds required for right-of-way acquisition and construction. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
