Job Specifications: MOWING 1. The contractor shall furnish all materials, labor, equipment and insurance to complete the work detailed in these specifications, or reasonably therein, to the satisfaction of the Town Manager and/or designee. 2. All grass sections and areas currently maintained and mowed during the previous growing season shall be mowed by a hand-pushed or riding lawn mower on a weekly basis. As growth of grass slows during the season, frequency of mowing shall lessen only with the written permission of the Town Manager. Under no circumstances shall grass exceed three inches (3") in height on any lawn area during the term of this contract. 3. After mowing, cut grass debris must be removed. No grass clippings of unsightly nature shall be left at any time during the term of this contract. 4. All grass in excess of 3" around the perimeter of all stones, monuments, bases of trees, bases of rock walls, and other such obstacles in the lawn area, shall be trimmed weekly on the same day as the mowing. Frequency of trimming shall be lessened only with the written permission of the Town Manager. 5. All leaves, limbs, litter, and other such debris of an unsightly nature shall be removed from the site of mown areas. 6. During the completion of duties specified herein, any and all contact with the general public shall be conducted courteously. Duties specified herein shall be carried out weekly and periodically, regardless of weather conditions, unless specifically authorized in writing by the Town Manager. 7. Competent labor shall be employed to provide first class workmanship under competent supervision, and the work must be acceptable to the Town Manager and/or designee. Failure to perform required work as specified and requested in a timely manner may lead, after proper notice and warning, to revocation of this contract or a reduction of payment from original agreement. 8. Mowing is not required at the Town Office, Public Safety Building or West Rockport Fire Station as part of this bid request. 9. Harbor Path Mowing: Mow Area in May, late June, late July, and early September 10. Marge Jones Mowing: o Mower height shall be set at 2" except where noted i. Spring: the athletic field shall be set to 1" in the infield and 2" for the outfield. The common areas shall be set to 2.5". ii. Summer: both the infield and outfield shall be set to 3" as well as the common areas. iii. Fall: mower high shall start at 2.5" and reduce to 2" by the end of the season. The common areas shall remain at 2.5" all season. o The first mowing of the season shall be no later than three days prior to the field opening for the season (May 1st of each year). Any extenuating circumstances (IE: field wet, weekends, etc.) are to be discussed with the Town Manager and/or designee in advance. o Clippings shall be removed from the site as part of each of the first two mowing operation, then returned to the turf after that. o All green areas to be mowed include ditches and back slopes, (up to 10 feet on each side of access road). o Mowing required under bleachers and other obstructions each time. o Trim base of all fences once per month. o Mow & trim all approach areas on West Street. o Duties specified herein shall be carried out as noted: i. Spring: Athletic field shall be mowed 2 times a week and the common areas once per week. ii. Summer: Athletic field shall be mowed every 7-14 days, whereas the common areas should be mowed every 10-14 days. iii. Fall: Athletic field shall be mowed 1-2 times per week (based on weather and growth) and the common areas once per week. o Duties specified herein shall be carried out as needed, regardless of weather conditions. o For the purposes of this bid: Spring is defined as the months of May and June Summer is defined as the months of July and August Fall is defined as the months of September and Octobe Job Specifications: MAINTENANCE 1. Town Office: o Spring Clean-up to be done by June 1st and includes clearing beds of winter debris (sand, stones, limbs, etc.), edging beds, weeded, scratch, feed and top dress beds with mulch. o Seasonally define borders o Weeding of beds in June, July, August and September o Fall Clean-up prior to October 15th including trimming plants back in preparation for winter 2. Public Safety Building: o Spring Clean-up to be done by June 1st and includes clearing beds of winter debris (sand, stones, limbs, etc.), edging beds, weeded, scratch, feed and top dress beds with mulch. o Seasonally define borders o Weeding of beds in June, July, August and September o Fall Clean-up prior to October 15th including trimming plants back in preparation for winter 3. West Rockport Fire Station (beginning May 2025): o Spring Clean-up to be done by June 1st and includes clearing beds of winter debris (sand, stones, limbs, etc.), edging beds, weeded, scratch, feed and top dress beds with mulch. o Seasonally define borders o Weeding of beds in June, July, August and September o Fall Clean-up prior to October 15th including trimming plants back in preparation for winter 4. "High Sidewalk": o Twice annual weeding of vine bed o Twice annual trimming of trees/limbs for pedestrians 5. RES Park: o Spring Clean-up to be done by June 1st and includes clearing beds of winter debris (sand, stones, limbs, etc.), edging beds, weeded, scratch, feed and top dress beds with mulch. o Seasonally define borders o Weeding of beds in June, July, August and September o Fall Clean-up prior to October 15th including trimming plants back in preparation for winter No pre-bid conference will be held.
