Demolition, site work and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Baltimore, Maryland. Completed plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; and for the construction of a bridge / tunnel.
As of January 5, 2026, construction is underway. They are currently doing Early Work Package (EWP). Removal of the existing structure over land, driving production piles at the main piers, and going to install the trestle out to the main piers. This work is to help keep the project on schedule. The remainder of the work will not start until after estimating and negotiations are complete, and they agree on the Guarantee Maximum Price (GMP) late spring/early summer 2026. Two 12-foot lanes in each direction / 10-foot-wide outside shoulders and 4-foot-wide inside shoulders per direction of travel. Total Bridge length more than 2 miles. 230-foot minimum clearance from water to bridge deck above the federal channel. Two bridge towers more than 600 feet tall. Distance between main span pylons exceeding 1,600 feet. Total length of cable-stayed main span exceeding 3,300 feet. Expected life span of 100 years.
