Kaukauna Utilities is accepting bids to have 100 fire hydrants field refurbished in 2024. Work will include sandblasting, zinc coating, primer application, epoxy finish coat, and flag installation. Interested and capable parties with at least five years of related work experience can contact the Water Superintendent at (920) 858-9180 or stop by the utility office (777 Island Street, Kaukauna) to obtain a bid document Scope of Work KU is looking for bids from such parties that are interested in addressing that responsibility on behalf of the utility. The company awarded this work be responsible for the following: 1. Ensuring that any permits / traffic control systems are in place to afford their personnel a safe area to work around our hydrants 2. Have the following done by qualified team members for each hydrant in question (including ground covering / paint shields /etc. to minimize overspray concerns): a. Sandblasting (including moisture separation and cleanup of excess sand and spoils) b. Zinc coating c. Primer coating d. Apply a two-part epoxy finish coat e. Install a flag on the hydrant FG-21 (E-Z Guide Fiberglass Markers) 3. The Contractor shall use a shield or shroud to protect and collect the spent media 4. The Contractor shall be responsible to collect, containerize, and properly dispose of all blast media paint chips generated during the preparation of each fire hydrant. Disposal shall be in accordance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
