Renovation of a municipal facility in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
The Whitehorse Public Safety Building (PSB) located at 305 Range Road was a construction project that completed in 2011. This 4,552m2 multifunction building houses the City of Whitehorse primary fire station (WHFD), main emergency operations centre (EOC), bylaw services and also houses the Cities main computer infrastructure. The WHFD uses self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) equipment as critical proactive personal protection equipment (PPE) and presently the existing room is undersized and sensitive life safety equipment is having to be stored outside of the existing clean room, within the apparatus bays and is exposed to dust and exhaust fumes. Key elements of the Work include: Apply for trade permits (City of Whitehorse BP is already approved - 2024-0273) Frame new SCBA clean room and mezzanine spaces including press steel frame installation. Erect new stairs to mezzanine Provide service rough-ins for mechanical and electrical services and owner supplied SOLO machine. Rough-in inspections and coordination with owner finishing carpenter (cabinets). Install drywall and finishes. System testing and final inspections. Close out requirements and substantial completion.
