The project consists of repair and rehabilitation of roadways in the city of Kent, which includes residential and business areas. The roadway repair work includes planing bituminous pavement, pavement spot repairs, asphalt overlays, shoulder widening, curb ramps, speed cushions, raised crosswalks, curb, gutter and sidewalk repairs, and other related work. The project includes work in areas near several Kent School District Elementary Schools. There is pavement repair along 116th Ave SE near Daniel Elementary and at the intersections of 64th Ave S &S 228th St and 64th Ave S & W James St near Neely O'Brien Elementary. To minimize traffic impacts and school disruptions, work along these schools shall begin after June 17, 2024, with completion by August 23, 2024. The Engineer's estimated range for this project is approximately $5.8 to $6.2 Million Apprentice Utilization Requirements are mandatory for all public works estimated to cost one million dollars or more, in which case no less than 15% of the labor hours must be performed by apprentices. KCC 6.01.030. A cashier's check, cash or surety bond in the amount of 5% of the bid must be included with the bid. The City of Kent reserves the right to reject any and all bids on any or all schedules or alternates or to waive any informalities in the bidding and shall determine which bid or bidders is the most responsive, satisfactory and responsible bidder and shall be the sole judge thereof. Note: The award of the contract will not occur until the City of Kent has reviewed all bids for responsiveness and responsibility determinations and the Kent City Council has formally awarded the contract. No plea of mistake in the bid shall be available to the bidder for the recovery of his/her deposit or as a defense to any action based upon the neglect or refusal to execute a contract.
