Reference Number 0000347680 The City of Aurora is embarking on a transformative initiative to reconstruct the now closed and flood-damaged 56th Avenue and Hudson Road within the vicinity of Box Elder Creek by implementing additional design and construction elements that will mitigate future flood risks anticipated from high storm runoff and substantially increased creek flows. This project follows the principles of safety, seeking to address roadway armoring protection to mitigate potential future flooding risks. The project will primarily revolve around reconstruction of the roadways, including adding necessary shoulder protection to prevent future damage from storm events. An add alternate will include stream improvements to Box Elder Creek to decrease the flooding risk in the adjacent area and to better contain the streams flows in the channel. The focus of this endeavor is to reopen the damaged roads by the end of 2025 or earlier.
