Renovation of an educational facility in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

Project generally consists of the low slope roof replacement of Areas A1, A2, and A3 which generally consists of the complete removal of all existing roofing membrane, insulation, flashings, metal flashing, and the installation of a new SBS-modified membrane, cover board, tapered insulation and base insulation, flashings, metal flashings, fluid applied flashings, new retrofit roof drains, new fall protection handrail systems, new roof hatch, new roof access ladder, new unit skylights, and all associated miscellaneous work as specified herein. Steep slope roofing replacement (Area M2) generally consists of the complete removal of all existing copper standing seam metal panels and underlayment, and the installation of a new copper standing seam metal panels, high temperature underlayment, plywood, and insulation over the existing plywood deck, metal flashings, and all associated miscellaneous work as specified herein. Removal and storage of the existing solar panel array is included in the Base Bid at Area A1. Alternate 1 generally consists of reinstallation of the solar panel array on new adjustable equipment supports. Alternate 2 generally consists of the installation of new fall protection handrail and gate at Roof Area B2. Each proposal shall be accompanied by a cash deposit or a certified check drawn on some bank or trust company, insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, of an amount equal to not less than five percent (5%) of the proposal, or in lieu thereof a bidder may offer a bid bond of five percent (5%) of the bid executed by a surety company licensed under the laws of North Carolina to execute the contract in accordance with the bid bond. Said deposit shall be retained by the owner as liquidated damages in event of failure of the successful bidder to execute the contract within ten days after the award or to give satisfactory surety as required by law. A performance bond and a payment bond will be required for one hundred percent (100%) of the contract price. Payment will be made based on ninety-five percent (95%) of monthly estimates and final payment made upon completion and acceptance of work. Bid date desp- Sealed bids will be received by the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, UNC Facilities Construction Management, Giles Horney Building, Campus Box 1080, 103 Airport Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27599 and immediately thereafter publicly opened at the Magnolia Conference Room 100A, at Giles Horney, Bids may be delivered earlier by hand delivery to the Bid Drop Box at: Jennifer Miller's office, UNC Facilities Construction Management, Room 211 Giles Horney Building, 103 Airport Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27599. Building, and read aloud. The owner reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities.
