Site work and paving for a road / highway in Topeka, Kansas. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
Alley Improvement Project GENERAL. This project consists of removal and replacement of the failing concrete alley approach on the east side of SW Jackson between SW 8th Street & SW 9th Street. The redline indicates sawcuts and limits of removal and placement of new concrete. All existing utility lids shall be matched in place. Aggregate Base shall be placed 6" thick below the 8" Non-Reinforced Concrete Pavement. The table below provides the bid items and quantities included with this project. Subsequent sections provide additional information regarding these bid items. 1 Mobilization 1 LS 2 Pavement Removal 33 SY 3 Unclassified Excavation 10 CY 4 8" Non-Reinforced Concrete Pavement 33 SY 5 Combined Curb & Gutter, Type I 30 LF 6 Aggregate Base - Type AB-3 12 TONS 7 Traffic Control 1 LS All work shall conform to the latest adopted edition of the City of Topeka Standard Technical Specifications and these bid documents. Work will commence as soon as practical with the issuance of a Start Work Order. Substantial Completion of the Work will be within 14 days from the date the Start Work Order is issued. Final Completion will be 7 days after Substantial Completion. All traffic control devices shall be removed and the alley shall be open to traffic by Substantial Completion. The 7 days of afterwards shall provide time for a walk thru, punch list, and any clean-up items. All quantities included in the bid items are estimated. The City reserves the right to increase or decrease the project quantities based on actual conditions onsite, with the expressed understanding that no adjustment in unit prices will be made. Work on this project shall be Monday-Friday. Saturday work may be permitted if the Contractor submits a written request by noon on the Thursday before the Saturday to be worked. The Engineer will have full discretion to allow or not allow work on Saturdays. City personnel will inspect all work. A construction inspector will be assigned to the project and the contractor must have inspector approval of the formwork and subgrade before placing concrete. A meeting prior to beginning of construction is required. Contact the project Engineer or inspector to arrange a pre-construction meeting. The Engineering Division will issue a Start Work Order after contract execution by the city and the pre-construction meeting has taken place. The alley shall be closed at the alley approach on each the east and west side. Three type III barricades with a road closed sign shall be placed on the west & east side of the approach. Channelizers and caution tape shall be placed around the remainder of the approach. There is on street parking which will allow room to work and an area for the Contractor to park equipment. All said work and materials shall be SUBSIDIARY to the bid item "Traffic Control." Bid Bond Required : No 841200.05
