Renovation of an educational facility in Woodbridge, Connecticut. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

The Town of Woodbridge will be accepting bids for a partial roof replacement at the Beecher Road Elementary School on 40 Beecher Road, Woodbridge, CT 06525. A. The Work of the Project is defined by the Contract Documents and consists of a partial roof replacement of an existing building. B. The Work generally includes, but is not necessarily limited to the following major elements: 1. Removal of existing membrane roofing, insulation, cant strips and tapered edges, and metal flashings, gutters, collection boxes and downspouts in areas as shown on Drawings. 2. Removal and replacement of existing roof hatch,, and other roof accessories. 3. Removal and replacement of deteriorated roof decking and wood blocking. 4. Removal and replacement of existing unit skylights. 5. Removal and replacement of existing roof drains and related piping and insulation. 6. Provision and installation of EPDM membrane, underlayment, and flat and tapered insulations. 7. Provision and installation of new flashings, caps, fasciae, and other trim metal work as detailed and specified, including new gutters, collection boxes, downspouts, and scuppers. 8. Provision and installation of new roof stairs. 9. Offsite disposal of all removed materials Each bidder is responsible for checking the websites to determine if any addenda have been issued. Bid security payable to the Town of Woodbridge is required in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the base bid proposal and shall be in the form of a certified check or Bid Bond. Bid Bonds must be AIA Document A310 or comparable legal bond form, issued by a Surety Company licensed in Connecticut. Bids must be held firm for ninety (90) days beyond the bid opening date. A performance and payment bond in the full amount of the Contract is required and shall be included in the bid price. AIA Document A311 or comparable legal bond form shall be used as the form for the bond, except that such bond must be consistent with Supplementary Instruction to Bidders. Bidder's attention is particularly called to the requirements as to the conditions of employment to be observed and to the minimum wage rates to be paid under the contract. The bidder must submit certified payrolls throughout the project. In accordance with Connecticut General Statute Sections 4a-100 and 4b-91, a responsible bid must contain two (2) documents: The Contractor Prequalification Certificate and the Update (Bid) Statement. The classifications ROOFING or GENERAL BUILDING CONSTRUCTION (GROUP B) are required as a minimum. The Town of Woodbridge reserves the right to reject any and all bids or any part thereof, or to waive defects in same, or to accept any proposal, or part thereof, deemed to be in the best interest of the Town of Woodbridge for whatever reason. This request for bid does not necessarily contemplate an award based solely on price. "An Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer. Minority/Women's business Enterprises are encouraged to apply. This contract is subject to State set-aside and contract compliance requirements. The Request for Proposal/Bid does not necessarily contemplate an award based solely on price. The Board of Selectmen or its designee may reject or accept any and all bids in whole or in part or may waive any informality in bids received if, in its/his/her opinion, it is in the best interest of the Town to do so, for whatever reason. State law requires a minimum of twenty-five (25%) percent of the state-funded portion of the contract be set aside for award to subcontractors holding current certification from the Connecticut Department of Administrative Services ("DAS") under the provisions of Conn. Gen. Stat. 4a-60g. (Twenty-five percent (25%) of the total state-funded value with DAS-certified Small Businesses and six and one-quarter percent (6.25%) of the total state-funded value with DAS-certified Minority-, Women-, and/or Disabled-owned Businesses.) The Contractor must demonstrate good faith effort to meet the twenty-five percent (25%) set-aside goals.
