Such bids are to provide for the following approximate "WORK QUANTITIES"... PCC Sidewalk: 9,000 SF, PCC Curb & Gutter: 1,000 LF, Fillets & Valley Gutters: 2,500 SF, Storm Sewer Inlet, Ramp Panels: 33, Landscaping, Seeding, and miscellaneous items. Each proposal must be accompanied by a certified check, cashier's check, or draft for five percent (5%) of the amount of the bid, such check to be certified or issued by either a State or National Bank, and payable to the City of Brookings, South Dakota, or in lieu thereof, a bid bond for ten percent (10%) of the amount of the bid, such bond to be issued by a surety authorized to do business in this State and payable to the City of Brookings. The check or bond will be retained by the City as liquidated damages if the successful bidder refuses or fails to enter into a contract and performance bond in accordance with the bid when notified. All bidders are required to hold all applicable South Dakota tax licenses. Bidder is required to furnish a Performance and Payment Bond in an amount not less than the contract price, for the faithful performance of the contract. Contractor shall promptly pay all persons supplying him/her with labor or material in the performance of the work provided for in the contract. By virtue of Statutory Authority, preference will be given to materials, products, and supplies found or procured within the State of South Dakota. All bids must be signed and submitted in a sealed envelope and shall state on the left hand corner of the envelope "Bid for 2024-09STI Concrete Maintenance Project." Any bids received after the deadline will not be accepted. No bids may be withdrawn after the time set for the opening of bids. Action on the bids will occur within 30 days of the bid opening. The City of Brookings reserves the right to waive irregularities and to reject any and all bids. The work covered by this section includes furnishing of all labor, equipment, and material necessary to complete all excavation and embankment within the street to the required depths and grades including the stripping, salvaging, erosion & sediment control and placement of topsoil as hereinafter specified or as directed by the Engineer. B. When material unsatisfactory for subgrade is encountered at the bottom of any excavation, it shall be removed to a depth below the grade as determined by the Engineer and backfilled with acceptable fill material. No excavation below the depths specified in the plans shall take place without prior approval by the Engineer. Should a bidder find discrepancies in or omission from the Drawings or Specifications or should he be in doubt as to their meaning, he or she shall, at once, notify the Engineer; and if the point in question is not clearly and fully set forth, a written addendum or bulletin of instructions will be mailed or delivered to each person obtaining a set of Contract Documents as provided for in the "Notice to Bidders".
