Bids must be received in Purchasing and date stamped by the bid closing date and time. Bids shall be in a sealed envelope, have the bid number and description labeled on the outside of the envelope. Observable surface cracking on the East Boulevard Bridge concrete bridge deck will be mitigated with an Epoxy Polymer Wearing Surface (EPWS) on that portion of the bridge exposed to vehicular traffic. The portion of the bridge deck solely accessed by pedestrians is to be repaired with a ‘healer/sealer’ wearing surface. Cracks within the bridge deck slab that have a crack width between 1/8" and 1/4” shall be cap sealed and epoxy injected prior to placement of wearing surface, as detailed herein. The following sections provide a comprehensive procedure for repair of both the trafficway and pedway surfaces of the East Boulevard Bridge. Our firm performed an on-site evaluation of the East Boulevard bridge deck on December 15, 2023. The purpose ofthe site visit was to quantify the surface cracks that would require epoxy injection prior to the EPWS and healer/sealer overlays. Generally, observable ‘larger’ cracks displayed efflorescence below the bridge at the bottom of the bridge deck. Estimated quantities associated with the project are provided below for reference The subject bridge structure was built in 2017 and consists of two driving lanes with a pedestrian path immediately south adjacent The approximately 323-foot long bridge is comprised of a reinforced concrete deck atop plate girder I-beams with four spans between two abutments and three intermediate bents.
