The Letcher County Fiscal Court is seeking bids for Asbestos Survey as well as Asbestos Abatement and Demolition services for a federal property buyout grant program. All companies, including women, minority, and veteran owned businesses are encouraged to submit a proposal The required abatement and disposal of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM) as identified and recommended in the Hazardous Material Inspection of assigned residential properties scheduled for demolition. All work must conform and follow all NESHAP, AHERA, and OSHA standards and regulations. Asbestos disposal shall occur at a site approved by the Division of Waste Management to accept asbestos-containing waste in accordance with 401 KAR Chapter 47 and shall meet all other applicable local, state, and federal laws (scale/tipping tickets are required). There are no approved landfills in Letcher County (Laurel County and Boyd County have approved landfills, and are likely the closest. Pike landfill will not accept the debris). The closest landfill permitted to accept asbestos containing materials is the Laurel Ridge Landfill located at 3612 E state Highway 552, Lily, KY 40740.
