Site work and paving for a civil project in San Diego, California. Completed plans call for site work for a bridge / tunnel; water / sewer project; road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
Reference Number 0000356200 The Water Authority's portion of the First Aqueduct contains six tunnels to convey water by gravity wherethrough the hilly topography would have required pumping. At the entrance to each tunnel, buried concrete bifurcation structures combine flows from Pipeline 1 and Pipeline 2 into a single pipeline/tunnel. On the downstream side of each tunnel, buried concrete bifurcation structures split the flow from the single pipeline/tunnel back into Pipelines 1 and 2. Above-grade concrete vent structures are also used in parts of the aqueduct piping to allow air entry and release at system high points. This project will use cast in place concrete to provide seismic upgrades at five bifurcation structures and two vent structures. New, precast concrete panels will be needed to seal the tops of the modified bifurcation structures. Around the vent structures, fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) composite fabric and high modules precured carbon anchors will be installed. At-grade concrete pads will be poured around or adjacent to the structures and new chain link fencing will be installed. Pipeline shutdowns are also scheduled to facilitate the rehabilitation work inside the structures. See Contract Documents for detail. Location of Work: The project consists of seven separate sites generally located along the Water Authority's First Aqueduct east of Interstate 15 between Highway 76 and Hubbard Avenue, north of Escondido, California. Access to the site is limited to public streets, temporary right-of-entry easements, and Water Authority right of way. See the Plans for the vicinity and location maps of the work. Description of Work: In general, the work to be completed under this Contract consists of site preparation, erosion control, structural rehabilitation and improvements to the exterior and interior of bifurcation and vent structures, site grading, paving, fencing, and all other improvements and appurtenant work. Bid Security: Each bid shall be accompanied by cash, certified or cashier's check, or bid bond in the amount of 10 percent of the total bid price payable to the Water Authority as a guarantee that the bidder, if the bid is accepted, will execute the Contract and provide the required bonds, certificates of insurance, and endorsements within 15 days of the receipt by the bidder of the Notice of Award. Contractor's License: The Water Authority has determined that the Contractor shall possess and maintain a valid Class "A" General Engineering Contractor license at the time the Contract is bid. Failure to possess the specified license shall render the bid as non-responsive and shall act as a bar to award the Contract to any bidder not possessing said license at the time of bid. All subcontractors shall have and maintain a current and valid Contractor license of the required classification from the State of California. Project Administration: All questions relative to this project prior to the opening of bids shall be emailed to Mike Vanoli, Assistant Management Analyst, at mvanoli@sdcwa.org. *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document.
