Renovation of a medical facility in San Diego, California. Completed plans call for the renovation of a medical facility.

This project entails the replacement of existing OR medical equipment with upgraded equipment. The project is located in Cath Lab #1 on the second floor of the Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center, UC San Diego Health Medical Center, La Jolla - 9434 Medical Center Drive, San Diego, CA 92037. The intent is to keep the project as an equipment replacement in-kind project, with additional modifications to existing architecture and infrastructure only as necessary for the installation of the new equipment. The equipment to be replaced includes: Philips patient table, ceiling supported Clea stand and supporting equipment, and a dedicated uninterrupted power supply. The University seeks Contractors with demonstrated experience in renovations to existing hospital or clinical medical facility while the facility remains in full operations, and other facilities that contain a high degree of technical complexity. to accommodate equipment replacement installations within an operational facility. Specific experience requirements include operating room renovations, Cardiology and Perioperative room renovations, equipment replacement projects. The Contractor shall have demonstrated an average annual business revenue of at least $3,000,000 over the last five (5) consecutive years. The Contractor must have demonstrated experience on their best three (3) comparable projects with the Contractor providing services as General Contractor within the last ten (10) years. Projects should have possessed the following construction challenges: work within/around an operational hospital with limited construction and staging areas; renovations/upgrades requiring proactive and innovative solutions due to noise, dust, pedestrian/patient/staff traffic while the hospital is occupied and operational; addressing unknown and/or unforeseen field conditions in a timely manner while maintaining schedule; working within an infection controlled space; phasing/coordinating work activities while ensuring no impacts to patient and staff safety and hospital operations; and project complexity requiring critical path construction scheduling to complete on time. Each Bidder may be required to show evidence of its equal employment opportunity policy. The successful Bidder and its subcontractors will be required to follow the nondiscrimination requirements set forth in the Bidding Documents and to pay prevailing wage at the location of the work. In addition, the University is committed to promoting and increasing participation of small business enterprises (SBEs) and disabled veteran business enterprises (DVBEs) relating to all goods and services covered under the awarded agreement, subject to any and all applicable obligations under state and federal law, and University policies. The awarded contractor shall make best efforts to provide qualified SBEs and DVBEs with the maximum opportunity to participate. Potential bidders will be required to submit their small business outreach plan to the University as part of the prequalification process. The work described in the contract is a public work subject to section 1771 of the California Labor Code.
