Project Description: Nephi City provides police services to the community and has provided those services since the early 1900's. The Nephi City Police Department (NCPD) is currently housed in a former seminary building next to the Juab County building on 42 East 200 North. Through many remodels and modifications, the NCPD has made the most out of this building but has finally outgrown it. With 13 sworn officers, 2 sergeants, a lieutenant, a captain, a Chief of Police, an Office Manager, an Animal Control Officer, a Code Enforcement Officer and a Records Manager, space has become limited. An opportunity has arisen to partner with a local private company to lease space in a building for a new police station. This lease arrangement will include an option to purchase the facility in the future. It is anticipated that the portion of the building for the space occupied by the Nephi City Police Department will be approximately 400' X 80' in length and width with approximately 32,000 square feet. In order for the space to be usable as a police station, Nephi City is requesting services from qualified firms to design the interior of the building for a functioning police station including, but not limited to: 1) A front reception area; 2) Evidence room; 3) Records room; 4) Offices for police staff; 5) A community/training room; 6) Indoor garage for vehicle parking; 7) A sally port for processing arrestees; 8) Holding cells; and 9) Storage areas. Some modifications to the exterior of the building may also be required such as an entryway feature, garage doors, etc. The facility will also be used for an emergency operation center with a backup generator power source. Areas like the community/training room would need to be designed to accommodate the setting up of an incident command according to the ICS structure from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The facility will have an underground shooting range and training area that will be donated by a private party. The building and facility will need to be designed with internal and external secure accesses to the shooting range. The range will be designed separately but access points to the shooting range will need to be coordinated with the 3 rd party designing the shooting range. The building will also be occupied by other public safety agencies. Some areas of the facility could be a shared area with these other agencies. The selected designer would need to coordinate efforts with these other agencies to determine if there are possible shared areas of the building. The building is anticipated to be designed and constructed to UCOPA accreditation standards, firms with expertise in this area will receive preference.
