Site work and new construction of a multi-residential development in Calgary, Alberta. Completed plans call for the construction of a 57,515-square-foot, five-story above grade, 50-unit multi-residential development; and for site work for a multi-residential development.
Construction of a new affordable housing facility to include a 5-storey apartment building with 50 units (mix of studio, three-bedroom, and connected three bedroom-studios typologies). Reference Number - 0000272545 Question Acceptance Deadline - 2024/07/01 02:00:00 PM MDT Bid Intent Deadline - 2024/06/24 02:00:00 PM MDT Trellis Foundation envisions a community where everyone can flourish. The organization supports growth across generations, and value the impact, the learning it can provide, courage, and empathy. The organization provides services in every quadrant of the city, as well as many surrounding communities, and are always looking to expand and grow service offerings. In 2022-2023, Trellis supported 437 unhoused young people and prevented 2,058 people from experiencing homelessness. The land at 6623 Bowness Road, NW, Calgary, Alberta (Lots 5 & 6, Block 23, Plan 4610AJ) is in the process of being purchased from the City of Calgary. Housing support is a key aspect of what Trellis does for the community. They operate an emergency youth shelter (aged 12-17) providing a safe place for young people to stay in emergency situations, while simultaneously helping them to get back to their families or to another safe housing option. Trellis has affordable housing for youth, adults, and families through our funded Housing First programs. They also have safe homes for Children and Youth through the foster care and group care programs. Trellis currently operates seven group homes, two supportive youth housing buildings, two supportive adult buildings, and two apartment buildings throughout the city housing up to 116 people. Trellis also has a community resource centre, called the Bowness Club, where young people and families access to programming, resources, and support. This includes affordable childcare, counselling, employment programs, parenting groups, Indigenous cultural connections, and High School graduation supports, as well as basic needs and housing supports. In 2022-2023, the food pantry at the Bowness Hub was accessed 278 times by various families and individuals; 39 students were supported and stayed in high school; and 143 children attended preschool and afterschool care programs at the Hub. This Hub provides key programs for our clients, and having an affordable housing facility nearby would make access even easier to ensure families and individuals have the support they need to remain in housing. Trellis is looking to construct a five-storey facility with fifty units. Based on preliminary works, this equates to ten units per floor. This is a mix of units including studio, three-bedroom, and connected three bedroom-studios typologies. A preliminary concept has been completed for the building; however, this concept will need to be reviewed and adapted to ensure it meets the needs of Trellis, and the requirements of the City of Calgary. Currently, the unit breakdown per floor is as follows: 5x three-bedroom; 1x three-bedroom, barrier-free; 3x studio; 1x studio, barrier-free. Of these units, there are 3x opportunity per floor for studio and three-bedroom units to be connected via a party-wall door. This provides the opportunity for larger spaces for inter-generational arrangements, families with older children, or larger families.
