Background. The Paul Derda Recreation Center was constructed in the early 2000s. The current ethylene propylene diene monomer ("EPDM")roof system and asphalt shingles are approximately twenty (20) years old and are at the end of useful service, and are in need of replacement. The low-slope roof consists of a sixty (60) mil EPDM membrane covered with rock ballast, and the steep-slope consists of dimensional asphalt shingles . Scope of Work. The Awarded Contractor shall install a new ninety (90) mil thick EPDM membrane, which shall be loosely laid over thepolyisocyanurate insulation, and a new sixty (60) mil thick EPDM membrane, adhered at walls using a low volatile organic compounds("VOC") aerosol adhesive. Replacement shall be based on the specification and drawings. The Awarded Contractor will redistribute saved stone ballast with a larger grade at the perimeter, with a one-and-a-half (1.5) inch nominal grade at the field of the roof. Replace any damaged or deteriorated concrete pavers. Furnish and install new twenty-four (24) gauge prefinished metal counter flashings at walls. Install new twenty-four (24) prefinished coping. Remove existing asphalt shingles and underlayment down to wood sheathing. Install new fiberglass-reinforced asphalt dimensional shingles. Secure with nails to meet the wind requirement. Furnish and install new concrete splash blocks at the bottom of all downspouts. The Awarded Contractor shall meet and demonstrate they meet the quality assurance specifications as outlined in section 1.09 of Exhibit A.
