The City of Kinston is hereby requesting informal bids for the removal of 200 ft of curb and gutter. All bidders must meet the conditions of this bid request. The conditions are: The scope of work includes removal of 200 ft of unlevel curb and gutter, grinding/removal of tree roots, grading, and replacing curb and gutter on correct grade to match existing Curb and Gutter. Location of work is on the west side of 800 block of Hardee Rd. Work area is identified between two purple flags and purple paint indication start and finish. See specifications included in this bid package. The contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, and material necessary to complete the work. The contractor is responsible for coordinating with all agencies regarding traffic control, utility lines, etc. The contractor shall acquire insurance prior to the commencement of work, and maintain the policy throughout the contract. Insurance limits are set as follows: Workers Compensation providing Statutory Limits and Employers Liability Limits of not less than $500,000.00; General Liability and Vehicle/Equipment Liability with limits not less than $1,000,000.00 per occurrence covering bodily injury and property damage, and not less than $1,000,000.00 in Excess or Umbrella Liability. Policy shall include the City of Kinston as additional insured party. The Contractor hereby agrees to indemnify and hold the City harmless from and against any and all loss, cost, damage, suit, liability, claim, settlement cost, or expense, for loss of, or damage to, property, including Contractor's or City's employees, incidental to the work performed under this contract. The Contractor shall, at the City's option, defend the City at the Contractor's sole expense in any litigation involving the same, regardless of whether such work is performed by Contractor, its employees, or by its subcontractors, their employees, or any or all of them, provided that such indemnification and hold harmless shall not apply to claims for loss, damage, injury, or death caused solely by negligence of the City. Work is to be performed on a lump sum basis for this location listed. The City of Kinston reserves the right to remove some or all of the work from the bid before awarding work. Work will be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder based on total bid amount. The City of Kinston reserves the right to reject bids based as deemed in the best interest of the city. Work shall be completed within 60 days of issuance of purchase order. Residents of homes affected by tree removal will be notified prior to tree removal. Bids may be delivered by delivery service or delivered in person and deposited in the Bid Delivery Box located outside the front of the building at the above address.
