The Board of Education of St. Mary's County (the Board) on behalf of St. Mary's County Public Schools (SMCPS) and the Department of Maintenance are requesting sealed bids from experienced and qualified Contractors to prime and paint interior areas and refinish wooden doors, cabinetry and handrails throughout the SMCPS school system. Refer to the Project Specifications of this RFP for full details, duties and responsibilities associated with this Bid Solicitation for Interior Painting Services. It is the intent of SMCPS to award this contract to multiple contractors deemed qualified, responsive and providing the best overall value for SMCPS. It is the intent of SMCPS to award this contract in June of 2024, pending Board Approval, and to have awarded contractors perform site visits of proposed interior painting locations throughout the SMCPS to quantify painting area square footages and bid item designations and to formulate a quote per the approved unit pricing established in this RFP. After quote is received, SMCPS will provide a purchase order to the awarded contractor of this RFP for performance. Each quote provided for each specific location will identify the project duration to incorporate into a formal schedule. It is the intent of SMCPS to perform a predominant amount of painting requested during the summer months when school is not in session to allow the painter open access to all areas requiring painting. There is potential to also perform painting during the winter break in December and the spring break in April of each corresponding year of the contract as well. However, even though this is the goal of SMCPS for performance of painting services during these time frames to maximize production, there is the potential to perform painting services upon request throughout the year as necessary and as funding permits. Purchase Orders over $50,000.00 will require, per each project location, a Payment and Performance Bond for that specified purchase order and project location. This contract is expected to be in place for a period of (1) year. Upon mutual agreement, this contract may be extended for four (4) additional one-year periods with review at the of each subsequent year prior to execution of the following fiscal year.
