Anyone wishing to discuss specific items is requested to submit the items in writing to Construction Procurement, no later than 05/09/2024 at 1:00 PM Lexington, KY Time. Written questions can be submitted by email to Brian Schwegman at cckbidquestions@uky.edu or fax to 859.257.1951. Please use the bid number and title in the 'Subject' line of your email. Note: Responses to Written Questions received no later than 05/09/2024 will be provided in an addendum issued on or about 05/16/2024. The project is to remove pavers and existing waterproofing, install new waterproofing, and do other miscellaneous repairs on the deck and building elements associated with the plaza entrance. 3. METHOD OF RECEIVING BIDS Bids will be received from Prime Contractors on a Lump Sum Amount for the total project. All phases of the work shall be bid to and through the Prime Contractors. Bids shall be submitted in the manner described herein and on the official proposal form included with the conditions and specifications and shall be subject to all the conditions as set forth and described in the Bid Documents. Bids shall be submitted only on the Official Forms supplied by the University of Kentucky, Construction Procurement Section and in the following order: 1. Form of Proposal (Bid Form) 2. Acknowledged Addenda 3. Determination of Responsibility 4. Bid Bond **Please ensure there are no staples (check your bid bond). 4. METHOD OF AWARD Recommendation for award of Contract will be made on the basis of the lowest, responsive and responsible bid which offers the best value. 5. SCHEDULE OF PROJECT Substantial Completion shall be on or before 150 days after notice to proceed. The University of Kentucky, Construction Procurement Section, reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive all formalities and/or technicalities where the best interest of the University may be served. The Robotics Building was constructed in 1987 with two terraces, each with floating paver systems. One terrace is on the first-floor level at the main entrance and the other on the third floor level as a building feature associated with a suite of offices. Both terraces and the first floor breezeway have leaking roofing membranes impacting basement rooms R10, R12, R12A, Robotics basement, and second floor rooms 220L, M, and N. Terrace associated building elements requiring repairs, upgrading, and/or replacement are included in the project. The intent of this project is to resolve the leaking and complete the list of items following. Some items on the list may or may not be included in the specific work operations in the specifications following but are to be included in the completed work and project. The scope of the work includes, but is not necessarily limited to or in the order listed: 1. First Floor Terrace a. Removing the specified existing pavers and store for reinstallation, b. Removing and refinishing the specified handrail, c. Removing specified roofing, lightweight concrete, and insulation to the existing concrete slab, d. Remove all caulking and membrane attachments from the perimeter risers, e. Preparing the terrace concrete slab and risers for deck coating, f. Installing a deck-coating system on the prepared slab, g. Repairing and waterproofing the terrace perimeter curb, h. Water-testing the waterproofed basin and drain bodies and piping for leaks, i. Installing the specified terrace insulation and waterproofing membrane, j. Removing all leak drip-pans and stalactites above the ceilings k. Replacing interior damaged drainage piping insulation, l. Installing missing interior drainage piping insulation, m. Replacing stained and damaged ceiling tiles (UK supplied), n. Reinstalling the existing paver system to like-new condition, o. Installing a metal coping on the terrace curb, and p. Reinstalling the refinished curb handrail system. 2. Third Floor Terrace a. Removing the existing pavers and store for reinstallation, b. Removing all roofing, lightweight concrete, and insulation to the concrete slab, c. Remove all caulking and membrane attachments from the perimeter risers, d. Preparing the terrace concrete slab and risers for deck coating, e. Installing a deck-coating system on the prepared slab, f. Water-testing the waterproofed basin and drain bodies and piping for leaks, g. Installing the specified terrace insulating and waterproofing membrane, h. Removing all leak drip-pans above the ceilings i. Replacing interior damaged drainage piping insulation, j. Installing missing interior drainage piping insulation, k.
