Site work for a water / sewer project in Columbus, Georgia. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The Project includes finished water pumping and chemical feed improvements at North Columbus Water Resource Facility in Columbus, Georgia including the following improvements: 1. Replacing the existing 6,000 gpm NCPS Pump No. 1 with a new 9,000 gpm pump, motor, and electrical conduit and wiring. 2. Upgrading the electrical systems at the North Columbus Pump Station and High Service Pump Station as shown on the Drawings. 3. Replacement of existing chlorine gas system with new 12% bulk sodium hypochlorite feed system, including six fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) bulk storage tanks, three day tanks, and twelve chemical feed pumps. 4. Relocation of the existing PAC feed point to the new Raw Water Chemical Feed Vault, including extension of feed piping in the new chemical trench / ductbank, replacement of the eductor, and replacement of the water booster pump, within the existing PAC silo. 5. Replacement of the existing chlorine dioxide generation system with a new generation system, including replacement of the sulfuric acid tank, feed pumps, and water booster pump, within the existing Chemical Building. 6. Replacement of pretreatment chemical feed lines, including alum, PAC, chlorine dioxide, liquid lime, polymer, and pre-chlorine (sodium hypochlorite), with Schedule 80 PVC in a new concrete chemical trench or ductbank. All chlorine gas solution lines will be replaced as part of the conversion to sodium hypochlorite. 7. Replace or modify the ventilation equipment in the Chlorine Storage Building and the basement of the Operations Building and as shown on the drawings. The work will be awarded in one Contract. Each Bid must be accompanied by a Bid Bond, prepared on the form of Bid Bond attached to the Contract Documents or a Surety Company's Standard Bid Bond, duly executed by the Bidder as principal and having as surety thereon a surety company licensed to do business in the State of Georgia and listed as a certified company in the latest issue of U.S. Treasury Circular 570, in the amount of five percent of the Bid. Additionally, Bidders will be required to demonstrate compliance with the American Iron and Steel Special Conditions and Information, and the Supplemental General Conditions in Appendix A, to comply with GEFA funding requirements. Equal Employment Opportunity Clause: Bidders must comply with the Equal Employment Opportunity requirements specified in the Instructions to Bidders. Minority Participation: Bidders will be required to demonstrate their good faith efforts to achieve compliance with the Owner's goal that a minimum of ten percent of the Bid Amount be done by Minority Owned Firms (MBE) and five percent of the Bid Amount be done by Women Owned Firms (WBE). Employment of Local Businesses and Contractors: It is the wish of the Owner that local businesses, including contractors, be given the opportunity to bid on the various parts of the work. The desire on the part of the Owner to encourage participation of minority and locally owned businesses and contractors is not intended to restrict or limit competitive bidding or to increase the cost of the work. The Owner supports a healthy, free market system that seeks to include responsible local businesses and provide ample opportunities for local business growth and development. However, the aforementioned statement shall not prevent Bidders from complying with the American Iron and Steel Special Conditions and Information, and the Supplemental General Conditions in Appendix A, as required for the GEFA funding on the project. No bid may be withdrawn within 60 calendar days after the scheduled time for receipt of bids. The successful Bidder for this Contract will be required to furnish a satisfactory Performance Bond and Payment Bond each in the amount of 100 percent of the Bid. The Owner reserves the right to reject all Bids, to waive informalities and to readvertise.
